18-inch or 24-inch dishwasher: Bosch 300 Series against Whirlpool WDT750

Get the tape measure first. I haven't run either machine, and the only lab results here belong to Reviewed.

These two don't compete for the same opening. The Bosch is 17.63 in wide and the Whirlpool is sold as a 24 in model, 23.88 inches on Abt's listing. Where the kitchen offers one width, the comparison is over. This page is for people who could go either way: a remodel, an empty run of base cabinet, or a rental where you can choose what goes in.

Household first

The Bosch is rated for 10 settings and the Whirlpool for 13 settings. Those are maker ratings on a standard load that may not look like your plates.

IKEA Indonesia's size guide, a retailer's rule of thumb and no standard, gives 3 to 4 people 10 to 12 settings. It gives 4 to 5 people "around 12-14" on the same page. Abt's guide puts 18-inch models at 8 to 10 settings and 24-inch at 12 to 16. I'd read that as:

• One or two people: either works, and the Bosch frees up a cabinet.
• Three people: the Bosch works if you run it daily.
• Four or more: the Whirlpool.

Depth and door swing

Width isn't the only measurement. Abt lists the Whirlpool at 26.5 inches deep with its bar handle, 24.5 without, and 50.19 inches with the door open. Bosch gives its machine as 22 9/16 inches deep with a recessed handle. In a galley kitchen, measure the floor in front of the opening too. I couldn't find a door-open depth for the Bosch, so stand in the space with the tape and allow for the door.

What a lab found

Reviewed's lab tested the Whirlpool in a review dated April 23, 2021. It measured Normal and Heavy cycles at 99.3% clean, against an average it gives of 96% to 98%. It also clocked Normal at almost three hours and Heavy a little over four. Quick Wash took 61 minutes and cleaned over 94%.

Top Ten Reviews used one at home, in a review published February 26, 2025. Cleaning impressed its writer. Normal with drying ran 3 hours 23 minutes, and heated drying left loads wet "nearly every time." Reviewed's pros list says it "dries dishes decently," so the two outlets disagree there.

So expect clean and slow, and maybe damp. That matters less if you run it overnight.

I found no equivalent test of the Bosch, which is why I can't say it cleans better or worse. Its 46 dBA sits beside the Whirlpool's 47 dBA. Both are ratings.

Running costs

Rated energy is 240 kWh a year for the Bosch and 270 kWh for the Whirlpool. A narrower machine run more often could close any gap, and I can't put a number on that.

Features you'd notice

Abt lists the Bosch with front controls, Wi-Fi and ADA compliance, and the Whirlpool with top controls and no Wi-Fi. Reviewed calls the Whirlpool's third rack standard, with no folding parts. Reviewed also found the finish impossible to smudge.

Price

Checked November 2, 2026: $1,099 for the Bosch and $949 for the Whirlpool. The Bosch figure is Abt's price, and the Whirlpool figure is the list price Abt shows as Comp. Value.

My pick

If both fit, I'd buy the Whirlpool for three people or more. Same for anyone who hates running the machine every night. I'd buy the Bosch for a one- or two-person home that wants the extra cabinet width, or wherever only 18 inches exists.
